Microsoft 365 Copilot is a revolutionary new feature that combines the power of artificial intelligence (AI) with your data and the Microsoft 365 apps to turn your words into the most powerful productivity tool. Copilot can help you unleash creativity, unlock productivity, and uplevel skills by working alongside you in the apps you use daily, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and more. It can also work across your data and apps in a new experience called Business Chat, where you can give it natural language prompts and get instant results.

But how much does Microsoft 365 Copilot cost, and when can you get it? Here’s what you need to know.

Microsoft 365 Copilot Early Access Program

Microsoft 365 Copilot was first introduced in March 2023 as a preview for select enterprise customers. Since then, Microsoft has tested and refined Copilot with feedback from companies like Goodyear, General Motors, The Walsh Group, and Avanade. These customers have reported that Copilot is a game changer for meetings and creativity and has the potential to revolutionize work.

In May 2023, Microsoft announced the Microsoft 365 Copilot Early Access Program, an invitation-only, paid preview that will roll out to an initial wave of 600 customers worldwide. This program will allow more customers to experience Copilot and provide feedback to Microsoft as they continue to improve it. Customers who are interested in joining the Early Access Program can apply here.

The Early Access Program will also include new capabilities in Copilot that were unavailable in the preview, such as more conversational, multi-turn interactions, improved document generation and summarization, and enhanced tone detection and suggestion.

Semantic Index for Copilot

To help every customer get AI-ready, Microsoft also announced Semantic Index for Copilot—a new Microsoft 365 E3 and E5 capability. The Semantic Index for Copilot is a sophisticated map of your user and company data that enables Copilot to better understand your intent and context. For example, when you ask about the “March Sales Report”, it doesn’t simply look for documents with those words in the file name or body. Instead, it understands that “sales reports are produced by Kelly on the finance team and created in Excel”. And it uses that conceptual understanding to help you find what you need.
